We’ve all been on the lookout for scams involving our personal information, banking information and credit cards, but are you using that same vigilance when it comes to your business life?
Recently we’ve seen an increase in the number of Toner Scams in our area. These scammers (often called toner pirates) call and pretend to be your supplier, with a change in prices, or a competitor that can offer you better prices. Sometimes these callers will simply contact you to get the serial numbers of your machines, or what make and model you have. Then the scammer will send you a shipment of toner that you never ordered, followed by a large bill (sometimes as much as ten times what the toner is worth!) Many times they delay sending their inflated invoice hoping the supplies will be used before anyone questions where they came from.
Beware of any company calling you and asking you questions about what equipment you use, even if they say they are from a supplier you trust. If you have a Managed Print Services contract, your toner is most likely included in your contract and you should never receive a separate invoice for these services. When in doubt, hang up and call back your supplier directly!
Call us at 320-235-6425 if you have questions about your toner or supplies OR if you have been contacted by a suspicious company regarding your maintenance contract.
